On the Ambassador's participation in a commemorative ceremony in Netanya

On September 3, 2026. Ambassador of Belarus to Israel Yury Yaroshevich took part in a commemorative ceremony in Netanya marking the 81st Anniversary of the end of the Second World War. As part of the ceremony, wreaths and flowers were laid at the “Wings” monument, a memorial to the Victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany.

The event was attended by the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Serbia and Uzbekistan, the Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of China, as well as Yuval Fuchs, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel for Eurasia Affairs.

In his speech, Ambassador Yury Yaroshevich noted the unparalleled feat of the Belarusian people during the Second World War and emphasized the special role of the partisan movement in Belarus, unprecedented in scale, in the struggle against the Nazi occupation.

The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission quoted President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko: “The Belarusian people endured unimaginable trials during the years of the fascist occupation and, at the genetic level, do not accept war”.

The Ambassador also spoke about the ongoing construction and renovation works in Novogrudok aimed at establishing a Museum of the Holocaust and Jewish Resistance at the historic sites of the Novogrudok Jewish ghetto. It was noted that it was from this very site that, 83 years ago, an unprecedented mass escape of ghetto prisoners took place in Europe.

In his speech, Yury Yaroshevich emphasized the exclusively peaceful nature of the foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus and the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, achieving this goal is hindered by the activities of the international “party of war”, which is interested in the continuation of confrontation and escalation.

On the same day, diplomats of the Embassy took part in a commemorative ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the “Memory Candle” monument to the heroic defenders and residents of besieged Leningrad in Jerusalem.
